DIAPER DRIVE

Well another day another post. Im really not sure how blogging works and how many people actually read them but this is a place that I can allow, those who do read, to get to know a little more about me and what goes on behind the scenes with Lluvio and what we are up too.

First off how to pronounce our name, it is kind of tricky. Lou-vee-oh.. If you speak spanish you know that the double ll makes a U sound so either way it can me U-V-O or Lou-Vee-oh how ever you like. The name comes from a small boy that I met while serving an LDS mission in Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands. I met this small boy on the Island of Dominica and he touched my heart the moment I laid eyes on him. The island is full of poverty but also a lot of love and kindness. So the boutique started as a way for me to give back to others in need, I love fashion and love public health and thought is a great way now in my life that I can give back!

We try and do small projects ever other month that allow us to use the proceeds that come from Lluvio Boutique to donate and help local charities here in San Francisco CA. During the month of March we decided to do a diaper drive. The reasoning behind this was because shortly after Christmas and donating gifts to families in need I called the same local charity, Compass family Services, and asked them what items were most needed for these at risk for homelessness families. The response was diapers of all sizes. It brought a few tears in my eyes, being a mother and knowing how important and how many diapers I use a day on my little guy. I can't imagine having to do without or having to keep my little boy in a wet diaper knowing that I didn't have enough for the next day or two.

We were able to provide 2 large boxes of diaper per size, being a total of 10 boxes of diapers ranging from 80-140 diapers per box. Thats over 1,000 diapers.

My son and I were able to drive to down town San Francisco, which is not the prettiest or cleanest area of the city and we were a little worried but luckily I was able to run into one of the program directors as I pulled off the side of the road and she grabbed an intern and a cart and was able to help load the diapers from my car into their office.

They were beyond grateful and asked me several times what is was that I do and why my company wants to donate. I just just responded because its a nice thing to do and we want to do our part in giving back.

We are BEYOND grateful for each of you who supports our small online boutique and our desires and goals to help others!! Thank you for making it even possible to do this!! So THANK YOU!!!

Keep a look out for what is the project in May! I am really excited about it and who is going to be working with us and what are goals are!!
